The play-off of inaugural PSL 2016 started with  a bang. Yes sir you heard it right with a bang. The crowd was full. No seats were empty. Two of the best teams came face to face, both teams have given their best in the field and in the end Quetta came ahead. Quetta held their nerve to sneak past the Peshawar and booked their place in the grand finale.

So the match begin with crowd chanting and wanting a thriller and both teams fulfilled the need of the crowd. Peshawar won the toss and elected to bowl first. They started perfectly and got the early strikes but it was the best players of decade, KP and Sanagakarra, which provided the much needed partnership for Quetta. With both batting with ease Quetta were looking to post over 150 runs on the pitch where batting was not easy. But again who are we to talk when the modern batting gurus KP and Sanga are batting.

But Peshawar had the best bowling line up and they came back strong. They picked up Sanga first courtesy to brilliant catch by Jhonny Braistow. Then KP missed the flick and got caught at long off. The captain Sarfraz got out on duck. The lower order couldn’t kept the momentum and eventually got out at 133. The reply of Peshawar was steady one but the thrill was yet to come.

Anwar Ali broke the middle stump of Kamran Akmal of the off-cutter when he was looking good. Then the find of tournament came into the action, Muhammad Nawaz, who bowled two best deliveries of the match to knockout Muhammad Hafeez and the dangerous Brad Hodge. The delivery to Brad Hodge was the match ball of tournament for me. After that Grant Elliot continued his fine form with the ball and took Shahid Yousuf and Shahid Afiridi out of the equation. Afirdi again played an poor shot keeping in mind the situation of the match.

Dareen Sammy almost took the match away from the Quetta but he went for shots one to many and eventually got hold out. Again the wicket taker was Muhammad Nawaz. Then you have to admit Wahab Riaz played his heart out to win the match but unfortunately he didn’t get his team over the line due to superb last over by Aizaz Cheema. Cheema defended 8 runs in the last over to give Quetta the place in final. It was the thriller which gave crowd every thing.

Man of the match: Muhammad Nawaz
