In second match of today PSL 2016, in front of jammed pack crowd, we witnessed the match in which the most loved Pakistan player, Shahid Khan Afirid faced most hated Pakistani player Misbah ul Haq. But this time Afridi sneaked pass through Misbah team with ease. Peshawar won the toss first and invited Islamabad to bat first.

Peshawar bowlers didn’t let their captain down and bowled with control and didn’t let the opening batsman of Islamabad United free hits. Shane Watson was looking to get started when he hit couple of boundaries in one over but he was deceived by one of the best delivery by left arm spinner and find of the tournament Muhammad Asghar. Watson was beaten in flight and his off stumped was begged back. Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan gave Islamabad some stability. Sharjeel when looking dangerous got out to Tait looking to hit over log on.

Misbah ul Haq again carried the burden of the team and scored a steady 32 runs of 27 balls to give his side some momentum but his strike rate could be questioned but he gave his team a lifter when we witnessed Afridi vs Misbah show. Misbah stole 16 runs in that over hitting 2 huge sixes and one delightful late cut for four. But again Misbah failed to pose a threat to fast bowlers and failed to accelerate the run rate and got out. Khalid Latif scored a good half century and gave Islamabad a respectable total of 152. Al-tough it was good bowling spell in depth especially by Tait and Wahab Riaz which halted the run rate for Islamabad who was looking to post 170+ runs.

Peshawar reply began in a great fashion when Hafeez, the man in form, smashed Russell for six in first over and then took a tool of boundaries in his next over. Hafeez eventualy perished when looking to hit Sami out of the ground. Tamim on the other end took the charge after Hafeez dismissal and took every bowler by the sword. Tamim was especially brutal on Saeed Ajmal. Ajmal who lost his magic after his remodeled action got a beating by Tamim. Jim Allenby playing his first match couldn’t score freely and eventually got out by Samueal Badree.

Tamim on other hand kept score board ticking by some delightful stokes especially through covers and down the track. Islamabad tried to come back when Ajmal got Kamran Akmal out but then Shahid Yousuf and Tamim steaded the shipped and guide them home. There was a moment when captaincy came in the question. Badree, the leg-spinner bowler, Shahid Yousuf the new batsman facing him for the first time and no slip. That was the moment where attacking captaincy lacked as they were looking for the wicket and what happened a genuine edge went through where the first slip would have been and went to boundary.

In the end it was easy win for Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad think tank will again be thinking what to do in next matches

Man of the Match: Tamim Iqbal for his magnificent innings.

Moment of the day: Wahab Riaz bowling at the speed of 145+ and bowling yorkers in depth instead of short pitch deliveries. Must have made Wasim Akram proud.

Worries for the day: Andre Russell injury and Shane Watson going out of ground during the field.
